Moonlight Sonata

Postby ChuckH » 03 Jan 2018 23:57

The Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor "Quasi una fantasia", Op. 27, No. 2, popularly known as the Moonlight Sonata, is a piano sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven and was completed in 1801
This was played as a straight piano solo without any pedals, just the two keyboards, given the structure of the bass notes within the piece. Not something I would normally do, but I think it works well in this case. I tried to emulate the rich deep notes of a piano using some vibrato on the lower keyboard. It is not an easy piece to play evenly on the organ!

Hi Charles,

I used to play this piece in my teens. Loved the harmonies formed by the notes played. It's one of those pieces where one could say, "I wouldn't change a single note of it".
