October 2023 Challenge

October 2023 Challenge

Postby Hugh-AR » 30 Sep 2023 23:19

The October Challenge is to post a song where the lyrics 'tell a story'. Eg. Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Old Oak Tree; or Little Jimmie Brown. But not 'Michael Row The Boat Ashore'!

So we all know what 'story' is being told, either post all the verses of the song (you can COPY and PASTE them from a Google Search), or put up an Embedded YouTube LINK so we can hear somebody singing the words. Eg:

Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree - Tony Orlando and Dawn

Little Jimmy Brown

If you're not sure how to do an 'Embedded' YouTube LINK, just post the SHARE LINK 'as is' and we will do it for you. There is a post on how to Embed a YouTube video here:

No need for you to play all the verses! Just a couple will do!

Here's where to post your entry, in CHALLENGE - OCTOBER 2023.

Do a right-click to open the Challenge up in a New Tab
http://www.tierce-de-picardie.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=520

Click on NEWTOPIC and put the title of your piece into the Subject.

Also, can you please tell us the instrument it was played on .. if you know! Or it may be several instruments that you have 'mixed' together with a computer program. In which case, don't worry about it. Just put your piece up 'as is' and say this is what you have done.

Notes:
1. The number of entries you can post is no longer restricted to three. So post anything you have done for others to listen to.
2. It's OK in these new 'Challenges' to post something of yours that appears elsewhere in this Forum .. including if you have posted it in another Challenge .. and even if your piece has been a 'Winner'.
3. It's also OK to post the same piece of music as somebody else. Nobody plays two pieces the same, and it's always interesting to see how different people tackle the same piece of music.
4. Remember that in this Challenge (and future Challenges) anyone, anywhere can listen to the song you have posted (not just Members). If you don't want your music to be downloaded by anyone else, there are options in audio.com and Box to prevent people from downloading your music.
5. As it won't just be Members listening to your music, keep an eye on how many Views you get. But also remember that it's only Members who can make comments .. so don't expect to see any more of those!
