When a Challenge is 'anything you like', you are not aiming to find a piece that fits certain criteria, so the choice of what to put up is limitless. I have pieces recorded on my AR80 and my Tyros 4; classical, foxtrots, latin etc. .. so which one to pick? Maybe something that was so difficult to play that when I finally managed to record it without a mistake it was an achievement.
But one thing I have always remembered is something Brian007 has said many, many times. When you play something, follow the KISS principle.
Keep It Simple See.
So that is what I am going for.
The Story Of My Life.
I am using the Warm Grand piano with a touch of Whisper Gallery for the melody.
I always like a LEFT HAND VOICE, and for this am using Dark Fat Saw.
In between the melody phrases I have put a Whistle. This is in a MULTIPAD which has been programmed to follow the RHYTHM (ie. REPEAT = ON) but not the chord I am playing with my left hand (ie. CHORD MATCH = OFF).
Then for the Chorus I have used STYLE CREATOR to remove the Bass PART of the Slowfox STYLE and have put in a 'walking bass'; and have removed PHRASE 1 and put in a 'repeating piano'.
Is all this 'keeping it simple'? If you know what you want and know how to do it then the answer is 'yes'. The important thing is .. it is simple to listen to. I used to have a friend who loved 50s/60s music because he used to say you can hear what each instrument is playing.
