This is a tune made famous, at least in popular jazz circles, by trumpeter Bunny Berigan in 1937. His recording is superb.

Written by Ira Gershwin and Vernon Duke in 1935, it became a smash hit immediately Bunny Berigan recorded it.

I play Bunny Berigans version a lot.

His playing is sublime, and classic Big Band.

He made this record in 1937, and it went straight to the top of the best selliers charts.

The story is that Bunny, an alcoholic, had to be raked out of a bar to go to the recording studios to record this.

He died quite soon afterwards.
