Turning on the Tyros 4. Screens and Buttons.

When you turn the keyboard ON (the switch is behind the keyboard on the left hand side) what you will see is the MAIN screen. Rather like clicking on Board Index in this Forum to get back to the 'Home' page and navigate on from there, it is always a good idea to get back to the MAIN screen, check what it is you have set up, and move on from there.

If you look to the bottom right of the screen you will see the EXIT button, and when you move away from the MAIN screen this is the button you press to get back to it. Strictly speaking, pressing this button takes you back one level, so you may have to press it several times to get back to the MAIN screen.

So looking at the MAIN screen, you move on to something else by pressing one of the buttons to the side of the screen (this is not a 'touch screen' keyboard!). Looking down the categories to the left and to the right you will see what they are, and Yamaha in their wisdom have allocated an alphabet letter to refer to each section .. as follows:

Before moving on, let's take a look at the three possible 'views' of the MAIN screen. The above mentioned 'Alphabet lists' are always there, but what may look different is the bit at the bottom of the screen. The screen showing the MIDI Channels for recording looks like this:

There are two buttons and a 'slider' below the screen.

Pressing the Channel button will give you the screen showing above.
Pressing the Balance button will show you the Volumes of the various parameters of your setup. To change the 'Balance' you can press the 'up' and 'down' buttons underneath; or use the 'sliders' underneath. These buttons and sliders are used for adjusting anything on the screen that needs adjusting.

This is the MAIN screen showing the Balance at the bottom.

Press the Channel button again and you get the actual PARTS of the STYLE showing at the bottom so you can have them ON or OFF .. and do other things besides.
