Polyphonic Overtone Singing (two notes at the same time)

Postby Hugh-AR » 21 May 2021 17:33

Can you sing two notes at the same time? Wouldn't have thought it possible until I watched this video.
Some of the comments from underneath the video:
She is separating two sound vibrations in one voice. How is that even possible?
As a vocalist, hand to my heart, this is the creepiest thing I've ever heard.
I tried it in my room & my husband ran in because he thought I was dying.

Polyphonic Overtone Singing - Anna-Maria Hefele
Overtone singing is a voice technique where it seems like one person sings two notes at the same time. You can sing the overtone scale on one fundamental. Another fundamental has its own overtone scale, so in order to have more overtones to sing nice melodies, you can use different fundamentals and change them while singing.

Anybody come across anything like this before?

How to sing overtones (tutorial)

I can't actually her any 'overtones' in this video above. Can you? This is a bit like trying to get 3D pictures to work. You can really concentrate, and you know what should happen .. but it doesn't!
