My Audience

- I’d cleaned up in the kitchen
After having tea
Then sat down at my keyboard
To play some songs for me.
I played some country ballads
Then played “After the ball”
Then saw I had an audience
Sitting on the wall.
She must have liked my music
And really liked the style
She came a little closer
And settled for a while.
Now after I had finished
I looked at her and said
“I’m sorry lady spider
But I am off to bed”
I got a nice clean jam pot
And a decent piece of card
And trapped that lady spider
And took her to the yard.
I said that she could come again
I really think she might
But I can’t have ladies staying
In my house just overnight.
