Hymns & Songs for 31st May 2020 - Pentecost

Postby Rev Tony Newnham » 30 May 2020 09:06

Hi

Not only have I recorded the music for the "Sunday at Home" worship for church tomorrow, I've done the whole service! Here's the music. I think I must have had an "off day" on Thursday when I recorded the organ pieces - I'm really not that happy with them, so excuse the odd wrong notes.

First up is a short worship song from the 1930's - Spirit of the Living God.

Next is a hymn originally written by General William Booth, of Salvation Army fame.

Next a modern hymn to a well known tune, "Lord of the Church". The music is a version of Londonderry Air.

And to conclude, perhaps Graham Kendrick's best known worship song:

Enjoy.

Every Blessing

Tony

Hi Tony. A lovely selection. Londonderry air is a particularly favourite. Liked the piano in the last one a lively piece. Enjoyed my Sunday singalong. Keep safe. John

Thanks John

Church anniversary coming up in a couple of weeks, so I'm planning on recording a spectacular classical organ piece.

Hi Tony,

Didn't notice any lapse in concentration for the organ pieces? The music seemed to fit the words OK.

How is your Service presented to the congregation? Presumably we only get the music parts of the service in TDP. So how and where do your folk watch the whole service? Do you connect to them at home using the Zoom App?

Maybe next week you'll be able to have your service outside in the Church grounds with a 'big screen' ... so long as everyone stays 2m apart. And those that are elderly and still shielding can continue watching at home.

Hi

Nothing as fancy as a live stream. The material is distributed in printed or e-mail form - the e-mail recipients are probably the only ones who use the music tracks. I'm getting positive feedback, so that makes it worthwhile, and I'm sending the links to a handful of other friends and posting on relevant Facebook groups.

Every Blessing
