Intros and Endings

How to make your intros and endings sound more professional on Yamaha Tyros 5

The important thing here is to press the SYNCHRO START button first. Then when you play your first chord, everything will start together.
Second, the keyboard plays a 'pre-programmed pattern' based on the chord you play. So your first chord should be the 'root chord' of the key you are playing the piece in. Just play the chord to 'trigger' the pattern. Don't play any other chords while the Intro is playing. Keep an eye on the point at which the Intro 'ends' and you should start playing your tune. There is nothing worse than having a few bars of nothing playing after the Intro has finished.

The demonstrator was quite correct in saying that once the pattern is 'triggered' you should not play any other chords. He is referring to the left of the split when he says this. But you can play notes to the right of the split to blend in with the Intro. You would need an 'ear' to know what to play, and the one person who is brilliant at this is Jon D.

Jon never sits back waiting for the Intro to finish before he starts playing. He's right there from the word go. A couple of examples of what he does are below. Listen closely to those first few bars of 'Intro'.

Just above I had said about Jon Davis:
Jon never sits back waiting for the Intro to finish before he starts playing. He's right there from the word go.

Well, here is Jon Davis doing an 'ending', and you can plainly see him adding a few chords into the auto-ending. As I said, he never just folds his arms waiting for the auto-ending to finish.
