Two Players Two Keyboard Same song

Postby barwonfan » 21 Jan 2021 04:53

I think that it would be interesting to hear a" Perpetual Canon" [ Also known as " A Round" ] played on this Forum. Well known Rounds are "Scotland's Burning" ; "Sweetly Sings The Donkey" : " Music Alone Shall Live" and " Hey Ho Nobody Home" May be it could be a Challenge for later this year . J.T. [Yammyfan]

I love listening to members performances on this forum and I ALWAYS turn off the speakers on my lap top and plug in my headphones.

The only song I know which could almost be classed as a "round" as it repeats the basic melody as others join in is Lollipop, Lollipop by the Chordettes.

Loved this when it first came out!

Here's my take on it, on my AR 80 organ.

This is a ROUND, not to be confused with a circle or the drinks you buy for your friends.

Further to my previous post; the “Round” was to encourage people to take part and be aware of the words. In some churches there was a man who sang the hymns a verse ahead of the congregation so that the people would know the words and music.
Then again, in my very young days we had to sing “Rounds” to establish if you could concentrate on what you had to do without being influenced by others near you. This allowed children to develop the ‘individualistic’ nature of the songs. Hence they, who could, would be able to join the choirs as in the Welsh Valleys, the American Barber Shop Quartet and some of the classical things from Handel etc.
Myself, I found it difficult to sing my part with others singing something different. Likewise, when playing my accordion in the orchestra I had to play third part which I managed to do only by reading my part of the music.
On the modern keyboards there are two or three voices in the right and the accompaniment. This would create a massive cacophony of noise total indistinguishable for any one listening if they were all playing something different.
To end this script; I create a massive cacophony of noise totally indistinguishable for any one listening. That’s ME.
