Most of the music posted on the Forum is in 3/4 or 4/4 time. When would it be appropriate to use 8 beat? .. Fred

It depends on the piece you're trying to play, I do tend to find a basic 8 beat can be a little to slow for a lot of the music I play even after I have upped the tempo, my advice would be to find out the Beats per minute ( BPM ) of the piece you want to play and set your 8 beat to that tempo and try it, if it doesn't work LOCK the tempo on your organ and try different styles till you find one that meets your needs.
