Music for a friends Blog Site ( own Composition )

Postby Brian007 » 04 Sep 2021 19:01

Hi ALL,

Was asked by an old friend who runs a Model Railway Blog if I could create a 2 minute piece of music for his blog site,

The first track I created was the Bass. there are only 4 chords in the whole piece C - Bb - F - G

Then the drum track shown in a gold colour, which was easy with the ipads built in drummers which will if you tell them follow the beat of the bass track all you have to do is create the beat.

The the Brass track was created, all the above tracks are just 4 bar tracks in midi format ( shown in green ) and are loops as you can see in the video

The blue track are Audio tracks which I created using the built in Synths, and that's about the top and bottom of it,

Hi Brian. Interesting. I think your friend would like it quite catchy. Sounded like a train. Liked the sounds etc. Just wondering. 3 chords you mentioned 4 or is it me. John

Hi Brian,

Very good! A short composition of music that is perfect for your friend's Model Railway Blog. And thanks for the explanation of how you did it.

I have EDITED your Embedded YouTube LINK as you used the wrong BBCode. The youtube BBCode is for 16:9 videos (ie. the 'normal' ones .. and this is what yours is). The youtube2 BBCode (the one you used) is specifically for videos that have been uploaded in the older format of 4:3. Using that one gets rid of the 'black bars' on either side of the video. But it won't get rid of black bars in a 16:9 video .. you get even more 'black bars' top and bottom.

My fault for not putting something up about this. I have now done this, here:

Do a right-click to open this up in a New Tab.

Hi Hugh,

Thanks a lot for listening and commenting and also for sorting out the Youtube codes , noticed it was Youtube2 but did not realise there was a difference. As I said to John T, nothing stops the same forever.

Your creative side has stood you well.
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to a tea party in the grounds of an upmarket residential care home.
Surprisingly they had a mini railway in the extensive grounds and I took 2 circuits of the track in a tiny carriage. A lot of of it was along the side of the river Frome. All the usual tunnels, signal boxes and stations made it very realistic. It was a 10 minute ride so extensive layout. They have 6 engines and run as a hobby by some well off gents. Incidentally, I told the driver my old mum always said to ride with your back to the engine. Why? His response was "To avoid smuts from the funnel getting in your eyes". Another one of life's mysteries solved.

Ken,

Ken .. I always thought that you sat with your back to the engine (assuming the engine was at the front) so that when you crashed into the buffers when you got to your destination you would be supported on your back. If you faced the engine you would be thrown forwards when you crashed.

Hi Always like facing the front, however when on holiday took train from West Runton to Wroxham. Half way there it went on another track and we traveled backwards. At Holt railway station they had a lovely model railway. I understand Rod Stewart has an excellent model railway . John

Hi Ken,

Thanks a lot for having a listen and commenting and pleased that you enjoyed it, as regards to being creative ? I think it was a bit of feeling locked into the past to much and a time to move forward who knows its new and different and keeps me amused

Hi Carloss,

Thanks for having a listen and commenting and pleased that you enjoyed it, Compared to just sitting down and playing one instrument yes it is, but its about moving forward and I would never have been able to create a piece like that by just sitting and playing one instrument. Not everyone's way of making music but I do enjoy it.
