Is Garage Band coming of age

Postby Brian007 » 22 May 2018 07:21

Hi ALL,

I have been banging on for a while about how the Ipad and especially Garage Band is a great tool to play and creating music
I found this piece on Facebook this morning where there is a big interest and lots of own compositions, granted all of them are not to my liking and probably yours too
But this one stood out so I have put a link to it from YouTube on here for you to have a listen too, ( Please note this is not me playing this )

Hi aLL,

I wouldn't have thought that this was possible, to play and record a complete song on a Iphone using Garageband but here it is

Here's an interesting little tune completely put together on an iPhone. It's had nearly 3 million views to date, so there must be some budding musicians out there even if they don't have a proper keyboard.

Hi Hugh,

Its amazing how anyone can create music on a phone so small, but they can and considering its pretty good,
I find the Ipad on board key board just about as small as I can manage, and when possible use my midi keyboard
but for the size its truly anazing

Hi Brian. Very interesting, but you haven’t got a garage. Would a loft or caravan do? John

Brian,

This is certainly an amazing piece of music to listen to, and as you say, he is a very talented musician. Of course what we are listening to are 'real' guitars and a real person singing. The only 'electronic' sound is the Hammond. I suppose he could have done all this by recording it all using Audacity on a Laptop? Apart from the Hammond sound, which he would have had to have got from somewhere.

Hi Hugh,

Agree completely about Audacity very useful free piece of software, I think the only thing is Garageband is more music orientated and offers a lot of really useful things for anyone just starting off who has not got a lot of instruments to chose from, and where a arrangers has a lot of style apple provide a lot of loops which are very basically the same thing

Brian. That is amazing. Love the rhythm and the backing. Could easily be Rick Astley, or The Pet Shop Boys. Hugh
