Most classical trumpet pieces were written in the key of D.
Here is one called Trumpet Tune, composed by John Stanley
Stanley was born in 1712 and died in 1786.
I have played this in the key of D, the key it was written in.

Hi Don,

Great sounding trumpet. You have played that piece beautifully! I presume that you have put this up to illustrate the point that Classical trumpet pieces are usually played in the key of D.
