Registrations.

Postby briber » 16 Nov 2022 17:13

Hello,

I do wish Yamaha would not throw the baby out with the proverbial.

Why do I ask?

After some two years with my Genos, (Still love it) I find that it doesn't quite sing as I wish so I want to add some reverb!!

Now on my organs, particularly the HS8 Turn the knob marked reverb and thats it until I decide to change it.

With my Genos!

I have a bank of 10 registrations for one song or, perhaps a style which can be used for multiple tunes. So,

Go to Mixer, keep it simple, adjust each voice I'm using and press memory . That's one,

I have another 9 to go, and I'm not trying to adjust the styles or multipad. And that's just one song. I have quite a number saved and still adding.

My finger hurts.

Now perhaps I'm being stupid and there is a better way.

Is there?

If someone out there in the ether knows of it, and can tell me, I would be really grateful, Really, Really grateful.

Thanks

Brian.

This is some thing I always do when making registrations.
It pays to take a little time on thinking what you actually want to happen when you select a registration.
Do you want the instruments to Pan
Do you want to add DSP effects
Do you want to add more reverb
Do you want transpose to happen on certain places
Do you want your pedal settings to be saved
Do you want to link Audio or Midi songs.
Make sure you have all the things you want included ticked in memory. Makes life a lot easier.

Belated thank you for that Eileen, and I know I should take much more care in planning but, after a lifetime of blundering along it's hard to learn new tricks. I appreciate that the Genos is geared up really for the creative musicians whilst I just want to have something pleasing to enjoy, however, I still maintain that earlier instruments had some good points which should not be discarded when creating the new.

But there, I am after all a dinosaur

Hi Brian

I’m sure that you are not a Dinosaur, however the GENOS has a problem.

By using registrations you are telling the keyboard that you do NOT want the standard setup. YOU have said that you want the KB to work using the parameters YOU have set in the Reg not the standard setup.

Until you sort them all out, simply use the Sliders for reverb it will save many steps when having to go into the mixer.

Fred,

Thank you for that, a suggestion that may help me in my hour of need.

I'll try it
