The NHS is 70 years old this year , I am 70 years old , so what was number one in July 70 years ago

What was number one on your birth month and year , please feel free to add to the post if you wish

What a brilliant idea for a post! I shall have to look and see what was No: 1 the month & year I was born.

I reckon Wikipedia will be the best place to look:

I sort of knew it would be this one. My father was always going on about it. My parents were abroad in China in 1942, so dreaming of a 'White Christmas' and the folks back home was a very nostalgic song for them.

"White Christmas" is a 1942 Irving Berlin song reminiscing about an old-fashioned Christmas setting. The version sung by Bing Crosby is the world's best-selling single with estimated sales in excess of 100 million copies worldwide.

Whilst I was looking I thought I would look up the No: 1 on my wife's birthday, February 1948. It says under the YouTube clip "1948 HITS ARCHIVE: Ballerina - Vaughn Monroe (his original #1 version)". Never heard this one before!
