He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother

Postby Hugh-AR » 26 Jun 2018 17:19

Here's another one I heard on Radio 2 this morning. He Ain't heavy, He's My Brother. I think the version I heard originally was by The Hollies in 1969 (or Neil Diamond in 1970?). This one is the Hillsborough charity single Christmas No1 in 2012. Just an amazing piece of music. One of the comments under the YouTube video says, "This gives me gustbumps every time I listen to this song". I know what she means.

PS. Anyone can put up a video in this Board of something they have heard that they really like. Please share it with us!

Thanks Mike. It's nice to get a bit of feedback from things we put up.

I think what I like goes back to the music of the 50s and 60s, when I was growing up. I remember my Dad trying to convince me of the merits of Bing Crosby, and Victor Sylvester. Of course they were from his youth.

But the trouble with 50s and 60s music is that the recordings they did then were not up to scratch compared to what we can do today. Even the quality from my AR 80 organ is better than some of those 50s songs. And at least my AR is in stereo! So I am always pleased to find a really good quality recording of those 50s and 60s songs usually performed by somebody else. As in this case.
