I was having a bad time, depression! Hugh shot me out of this by sending me a link to some fellow who thought he was a teacher. He could not teach a fish to drink! He spent 11+ minutes rabbiting on all the ways not to solve an equation that I solved in 45 seconds in my head.. That set me thinking (strange thing to do). I spent most of the night working on some problems that intrigued me. I realized this morning that I had 2 weeks of ironing to do. I always play music when I do the ironing. It came to me why the older classics are still very popular. Mainly because they are melodic, predictable, mathematically correct and tell a good story. (In operas the main characters usually die in the end!). This morning I played Verdi; mainly the Quartet from Rigoletto. However, I do like to entertain my neighbours (who are away at present) with the "Ride of the Valkyries) from the opera. I play that at FULL volume!

Verdi. RIGOLETTO. 3 act quartet. Placido DOMINGO, Ileana COTRUBAS, Cornell MACNEIL, Isola JONES
I can get all sentimental with this. but---
This one really gets me going!!
When I listen to my opera CD's I wonder how people can compare Robert Merrill, Jussi Björling, Luciano Pavarotti with Mick Jagger, Jimmy Barns etc.
