"Angels We Have Heard on High" is a Christmas carol of French origin ca. 1862. The song commemorates the story of the birth of Jesus Christ found in the Gospel of Luke, in which shepherds outside Bethlehem encounter a multitude of angels singing and praising the newborn child.

1. Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o'er the plains,
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains.
(Chorus)
Gloria in excelsis Deo.
Gloria in excelsis Deo.

2. Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heav'nly song?

3. Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord, the newborn King.

Text: French carol, ca. 1862

Hi Keith Just back from a long walk into Chester-le-street. Very refreshing and set me up for New Year's Eve. Going to neighbours for a meal. Enjoyed my Christmas listen. Bumped into 007 while I was out. Have a good day. John
