With the return of Strictly Come Dancing I thought maybe, with all these various 'bands' at our fingertips, it would be good to play something that would accompany one of the dances they do in the program. Could be a Rhumba, Samba, Tango, Cha Cha, Mambo, Beguine, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Waltz etc. etc. .. there must be loads more! Just say what dance you are playing for, and the name of the tune.

I'll start the ball rolling with a Rhumba (or is it a Rumba?) and the tune is More.

Thanks for that Ken. I'm just imagining what the dancers would do every time there's a 'cuckoo', particularly when you get to the end of the dance. Hugh

There has been a good selection of music, "More" is a tune I like very much and Hugh played it very well. :D
Ken played the Cuckoo waltz, it was one of the piano pieces I was given when I was a lad at piano lessons. It is funny
how these tunes stick in your mind. I don't know The Boston two Step but very well played. :D
Don's Johann Strauss polka was fab. :D
Brian's bossa was very smooth, nicely played. a lovely tune. :D

a well played tune with plenty of vim and vigor.

Hi ALL,

I am reliably informed that this can be danced to as Quickstep ? so here's my version of Mr Sandman in a Big Band style (Quickstep @200bpm )
and lasts all of 90 seconds but I did enjoy my little trip outside my comfort zone

Peter, Ken and Brian,
A fine choice of tunes, More is a great tune and well played. Moon River is one of my favoutite waltzes,
well voiced and performed. Brian you are right, I think a quickstep is normally between 190 to 200 bpm.
well played.

Quickstep, Come Dancing and Red Roses For A Blue Lady.
I think these two tunes go well together.

Don, Peter, Brian, Brian, Ken, Jon and Ken. You are all amazing! When I started this 'Theme' I had no idea we would get so many fantastic players contributing. All your 'performances' are great to listen to and I reckon we should all get together for a 'Come Dancing' Weekend.

Here is a number we always used to play in the band 'last thing' before we all packed up and went home. A nice 'smoochy' Waltz with an appropriate title.

It's Almost Tomorrow

https://app.box.com/s/b7svnwn4jywhclp7hd7twrykg6btjh0q

The little 'ad lib' piano bit was what I used to play in the background to accompany the trumpeter while he played the tune.

We used to alternate between the above and The Last Waltz as 'the last waltz'. The Last Waltz is already up in the Forum, here:
