Thanks for the comment John. Not one I knew either but that is the thing about the Challenge. This next one is from the English folk tradition and I remember this being sung in the folk clubs of the 60's and 70's. It is a bit like a shaggy dog story in that it has as many verses as you like. An older female is asking the young lad Willie where he has been all day and he replies that he has been "a courting of a lady gay." The inquisition begins to find out if she has all the skills of a future wife but all Willie will say is that "She is too young to be taken from her mammy."
I hope that you enjoy "My Boy Willie."

For the next one we are off to Scotland. In arranging this I was thinking of Rosen Montag parades in Germany. Various floats and bands would pass in front of the crowds and the bands would range from the sublime to the ridiculous. The tune is "Ho Ro My Not Brown Maiden" who from the words (by the poet John Stuart Blackie) sounds to have been a bit of a cracker. Anyway my march past begins with a non too talented piper and basic drum band. They are followed by the band of the Grenadier Guards who strut their stuff until a restrained ending.

And last, but not least, we come to Wales. "Suo Gan" is a beautiful lullaby with the English translation of the first line as "Sleep my baby, on my bosom." Plenty of possession there then! One of the boy sopranos (Anthony Ray?) recorded this years ago but this is my version of "Suo Gan."

Hi Keith,

"I Wish I Had the Shepherd's Lamb" a very interesting title and not one I have heard before, it was well played and voiced and made for an enjoyable listen.

"My Boy Willie" was another one I have never heard before, but again a well played and voiced little ditty which was a surprisingly enjoyable listen.

"Suo Gan" was another one I have never heard before, but was interesting to listen too, and you made a good job of voicing and playing it.

Your last 3 numbers are all unusual but interesting, and well played and it reminds me very much of John Peel's radio show you just never
knew what was coming next, but that's what this challenge section is all about the music.

Brian. I suppose you are playing this on your own keyboard, which is yours; and you are possessed by the beauty of the music .. so maybe this is the right place for it. Another good one, and I like the 'sea views' in your video. Hugh
It's all about the music. Yamaha AR 80 Player.

i Hugh,

Just seemed an appropriate place because the title is " Don't Let the Sun See You Crying "
