New Challenge - Movement (and means of movement)

Postby KRUG » 30 Jan 2016 09:51

Thanks to all who took part in the last Challenge. Your new Challenge is to find, play and make new recordings of any piece to do with the movement of the human body. The song could mention innanimate modes of transport such as cars, boats and trains or could use a word describing how we move our own bodies e.g. hop, skip, jump, charge etc. Please quote the title and line detailing the qualifying word.

My first entry to get you going is from the first page I opened in a book of film music. Not a song I knew previously it is from the film Hans Christian Anderson and was performed by Danny Kaye and it is called "Anywhere I Wander."

I just love this anthem from Carousel but perhaps better known as from Gerry and the Pacemakers and Liverpool FC. "You'll Never Walk Alone." The coda sounds a little odd to me but is as written.

I am beginning to think that you have all got the bug I had last week. If so you have my sympathy. To cheer you up here is one from your childhood -"The Ballad of Davy Crocket which tells of him running through the woods.

Hi Keith,

Do you have any fingers left after that ? an interesting choice of song and instruments, but I still enjoyed it all the same

Anyway back to 1959 with this one as Cliff and the Shadows are Travelin Light, as his feet are not touching the ground I can only assume
he`s flying and as he has no baggage it must be Easy Jet ?? https://app.box.com/s/guefv4n02d6e16fc5ydrn03e8uuw3zow

I think that some of the links to the theme of the "Challenge" are rather unclear. Could I please ask everybody to read the description of the Challenge:

Your new Challenge is to find, play and make new recordings of any piece to do with the movement of the human body. The song could mention inanimate modes of transport such as cars, boats and trains or could use a word describing how we move our own bodies e.g. hop, skip, jump, charge etc. Please quote the title and line detailing the qualifying word.

My next entry is the rather sad contemplative "Early Morning Rain." The second verse begins, "Out on runway number nine, Big seven-o-seven set to go," and the last verse says that you cannot jump a jet plane like you can a freight train.

Thanks for the kind comments. I find it fascinating that this morning's offering "Walk Away" has had over three times as many listens in three hours as "You'll Never Walk Alone" has had in four or five days.

I wonder how many people will remember this one from about fifty five years ago. "Walk Don't Run"

Hi Keith,

Walk Away was very good piece and I liked the voices you used, well played,
Walk Don`t Run was an interesting version of that tune, well played and voiced
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Kens

Stand by your Man is a classic country song and you played it well,

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here`s another one by John Denver, Leaving on a jet Plane, decided to keep this a simple as possible with just a hint of Jazz to it
and at the same time keeping to the theme of the challenge which is movement. https://app.box.com/s/ogrds994iyn5ffhrl3zulxtylq08px37
