Hi BrianD. it is a very long time since I heard that Bee Gee's song and you did a very good job of it. I Particularly enjoyed the Hammond organ sounds.

Thanks guys for your comments. What a good selection this challenge has produced and I have enjoyed all of them. So am surprised that I Left my Heart in San Fransisco has not been played yet.
Years ago an elderly neighbour asked me to play it for him. I did and he burst into tears saying it was the site of the last holiday he had with his wife. He also long gone now but puts a pang in my heart.
regards Ken

Hi Kens, an unusual classical type arrangement of I Left My Heart In San Francisco which worked well.

I could not remember listening to any proper classical entry so far so here is a bit of Gustav Holst - "I Vow To Thee My Country."

re : I've gotta get a message to you, its such a short verse and chorus repeated three times, I wasn't sure what to do with it but I suppose it turned out OK.

Ken, you played San Francisco very nicely, I enjoyed it. :D :D

Keith, I posted a piano version of that tune recently but I can't remember where but it is a beautifully stirring song, I enjoyed your version. :D :D

Hi Guys,
It was a Jim Reeves song, The band I was in back in the seventies used to play it. I don't think I've played it since although I have sung and played it on my guitar occasionally.

Hi John, "I Know Where I'm Going" was most enjoyable and look forward to your next post before you get into Christmas mode.

Hi Ken, nice tune and well played but although your heart was in the right place your "eye" was in the wrong place, so to speak.

Just a quick one for this wet Sunday morning. Must be about 55 years old and I believe was performed by the Monkees but written by N. Diamond. I am sure my Japanese sheet music has a couple of wrong notes so I have changed them.

I give you " I'm A Believer."

I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing. The New Seekers, 1972. This is always a difficult one to play, not only because there are various 'harmony parts' that come in, but also because it was sung almost as a 'round' so the melody overlaps itself. The below is just the basic tune, but it would be interesting to try and work out a more intricate arrangement of this piece.

Hi Hugh,

A good version of that tune and well played , but as you say loads of contra melodies in the original, are you able to multi-track with the setup you have ?
that's something I like doing adding extra tracks to lift the performance. Thanks for posting. Brian007 8) 8)

Brian,

No, multi-tracking is not something you can do with the AR, so you have an advantage over me with your Tyros 5. A Rep who used to stay in our Hotel always brought his keyboard with him, and put the output of his keyboard through the amplifier of my AR. He used to have a band of his own (on cruise liners) and invited me to 'have a go' .. and do some sequencing. Well, I played something with my two hands .. and then was at a complete loss as to how to 'add' to what I had already done! He was able to add three or four things right out of the blue. I reckoned he didn't need a 'band'. He could have played the whole lot on his own!

The AR has a real 'old hat' way of recording. To a floppy disk, for starters. The files we get are in pairs, one ending in .b00 (the Registration file) and the other ending in .evt (the event of playing). We can't do MIDI Files; and can't do MP3 Files .. hence my purchase of a Behringer XENYX Q802USB Mixer so I can record MP3 from the Line Out of my AR to Audacity on my Laptop. But I suppose our recording system does have one advantage. When we 'play' a piece someone else has recorded, the whole organ is set up with the Registration they used, so not only do you hear the instruments, but also can see what they are and what Style has been used .. and even use the set-up to play the piece yourself (or another one you think would suit what you have just heard). This system reminds me of a 'pianola'. The Registrations and lights 'change' in real time as the piece is playing; it's just that the keys don't go up and down.

But one thing we can do is to record Upper, Lower and Pedals separately. So I can (and sometimes do) use both hands to record on the 'split' Lower. Left of the split for the chords and Style; right of the split to play some counter melody. Then play that back while I play and record the melody on the Upper. So I suppose this is a sort of 'sequencing' .. once. And as a friend once said to me, if you can't play the pedals you can then get down on the floor and play the pedals with your hands and elbows! I usually get the bass line from the pre-programmed bass in the Style.

Interesting how you record your music through a mixer and into audacity, you could add extra tracks via audacity , but its more work that way
