Hi All,

A complete change of style and instruments this time, have hung up the guitar and covered up the organ and gone all orchestral and folksy for this one.

Junipers are coniferous plants, the berries are a spice used in a wide variety of culinary dishes and best known for the primary flavouring in gin.
So my offering today is "Jennifer Juniper" a song and single by British singer/songwriter Donovan. Could not play the last verse as its in French
and I can`t read French.

Well Brian is on the Gin and I am still in Ireland thinking of barley and what that is turned into. In fact I think that my Irish band have either had a few too many or it is a bit damp in the Emerald Isle. They are playing an old Irish song adapted by the Clancy's, "The Wind That Shakes The Barley."

Hi Keith,

That was a great performance of that song, I must admit I have never heard it before but I enjoyed listening to all of it, some very appropriate voices and a suitable rhythm/beat made a very enjoyable listen

Hi Brian. A nice change from the guitar. Liked the sounds and your interpretation of the tune. I thought everyone in Waldridge spoke French. Enjoyed it. John

Hi Keith. Liked the different instruments used. Not familiar with the tune, but a very pleasant listen. John

Hi Ken A quite emotional and haunting style. Good use of sounds. Enjoyed it. Some good selections of tune, pity we can't get a few more to join in for the fun of it. John

Hi Brian D.

I was wondering when someone was going to do Tulips from Amsterdam, a great performance with some good sounds.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Ken,

Another great performance, not a song I am familiar with but enjoyed listening to it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Keith,

A great performance and as usual I have never heard it before ( I must have lead a very sheltered Musical Life )
some good voices and well played

Hi Ken and Brian D, These were two of a small group of the most well known songs that fit this category and I too was wondering if someone was going to cover them. I enjoyed the bouncy theatre organ style of Tulips and its exact opposite late night laid back style of Days of Wine And Roses. Both very well played.
Will see if I can find something more obscure for this morning's entertainment.

I think that this might be the last in my Irish theme. The copyright is 1996 and appropriately mentions Andrew Cherry and J.W. Cherry as the composers. The song tells the story of St. Patrick and his bringing the shamrock to Ireland.

Hi Kens, Not one I recognise. Was that a whole verse or should there be more?

Well folks this challenge has brought out tunes from the sublime to the ridiculous and this is most definitely at the ridiculous end of the spectrum. Imagine that you are at the back of the bus with a bunch of drunk rugby players on their way home from an away match where there was plenty of post game hospitality. The questionable songs have started and everybody is singing The Marrow Song (Oh What A Beauty) with plenty of gestures etc. Now some of the team can sing but some are most definitely tone deaf. I hope that you enjoy, or at least have a laugh at "The Marrow Song."

This might be my last for this challenge as I need to look at some Christmas music.

Hi Keith. I saw this one but couldn't decide on the style. However enjoyed your version. Keeping my Christmas tunes on hold until beginning of December, although there are loads to play. Finished practice for tonight now have to dismantle keyboard. John

Hi Ken,

I thought you made a great job of that tune, with some good voices and only one hick as far as I could tell :D well played,

As regards to Christmas songs, personally i think its way to early even for in the challenge section and while we initially thought we may do
a challenge for Christmas Carols , Since Mike the owner of the board has specially created a section for this year I think its only right we
support him by posting our Christmas carols in there. viewforum.php?f=310

Having said all that if you want to post a Carole here its up to you.
