Hi all,

The biggest hit version of " Heartaches by the number" was recorded by Guy Mitchell on August 24, 1959,
so to continue with the Yeahs and Twangy guitars theme here`s my version of "Heartaches by the number"

Some good offerings by the usual suspects. Thanks to Kens and the two Brians for providing something good to listen to.

My next offering is rather off the wall or certainly off the belltower. In the late 50's Pete Seeger visited Wales and was struck ( I know) by the church bells and the way that they seemed to talk to each other. He wrote "The Bells of Rhymney" with Idris Davies and it is a social comment on the plight of the mining industry. This arrangement is very much my own rather than an attempt at reproducing the song.

Hi Keith,

Well that was an unusual piece, one that I have never heard before, and strangely enough it was also recorded by the Byrds ?
some interesting use of the voices on your organ made it sound like church bells being played which I am sure was your intention

Thanks for posting Brian007 :D

Hi Brian. Hope you don't run out of strings. A nice version of the tune. Kept me interested. Enjoyed it. John

Hi Keith. Not one I know. Liked the bells which were a nice choice. I enjoyed the different approach to the tune. John

In the early 1960s I bought an LP called "The Triffids Are Really Folk" .. with the caption "Exciting New Group on the British Folk Scene". I thought they were really great, and one track in particular caught my attention (and is why I bought the record). Don't Think Twice It's All Right. Now this has been done by Eric Clapton, but I think I prefer the version done by Peter, Paul and Mary.

If you listen on YouTube to the backing by Peter, Paul and Mary you will hear some super 'guitar' work. Having to put something to suit as a 'backing part' in my Style was not an easy task, but I hope what I have managed to do is acceptable.

Brian,

In your posting above you say:

The biggest hit version of " Heartaches by the number" was recorded by Guy Mitchell on August 24, 1959, so to continue with the Yeahs and Twangy guitars theme here`s my version of "Heartaches by the number"

.. and I was really looking forward to listening to that! Remember it well. But there's no music LINK. Or I should say, there is a LINK in the posting, but there's no music at the end of it. Is this deliberate? Or maybe you have lost it?

Hi Hugh,

That was a pretty good version of that song and I enjoyed it, as regards to some of my music having missing links
I once ended up with 2 box accounts and there was an upgrade to box and I lost one of the accounts and it looks like
that particular song/songs was in the account that was deleted.

Brian,

1979 .. I was 16 going on 17 and the sound of music was beginning to take hold on me .. Guy Mitchell brings back some memories. Completely forgotten about him these last 50 years! Heartaches by the number was a particular favourite of mine. I find listening to you playing things gives me ideas for things I can try (particularly Styles and Rhythms), so any chance of you playing it again so we can listen to it?

Hi Hugh,
A nice version of "Don't Think Twice" , you mention others who have played it, my favourite version is by Bob Dylan who wrote it.
You asked on another post what instruments I have, If you look back on this post, there are videos of the EL 70 and the Lowrey.
