Beatles, Beach Boys, Elvis and Roy Orbison

Postby Brian007 » 10 Jun 2015 07:44

Hi All,

Something a little different this week, choose your songs from any of the following
The two biggest groups of the sixties, The Beatles and The Beach Boys or if you prefer
solo artists Elvis Presley and Roy Orbison

If someone has posted a version of the song you wanted to do, please post your version also as variety is the spice of life
and none of us play the same way. Look forward to hearing your post and remember this is not a competition just a bit of fun

Hi All,

Well here`s my attempt at a Beach boys number called Sloop John B
a little bit of sticky fingers here as my fingers where literally sticking together
with the heat. ( that`s my excuse anyway )

Well played Brian. I did not notice any sticky fingers or even anything approaching dampness. You have got us started so will see if I can get something recorded in the next hour.

Hi Keith,

Thank you for your kind comments, I guess the weather is to nice at the moment
to be stuck inside in front of a keyboard, or perhaps I have made this challenge a little
too challenging ?

I am finding playing very difficult at the moment as I am having the ridge tiles replaced and men are working with hammers and angle grinders all day long. Fortunately I record direct so although the noise is a pain for me it does not come out on the recording.
I do not think that I have ever played this one before but here comes Lady Madonna.

Hi Keith,

A very good performance, some great voices and combinations of voices in the tune
and played perfectly, you are certainly getting the hang of the Bohm. Brian007 :D

The hammering and grinding stopped and I found this Lennon and McCartney song which I have no knowledge of ever hearing before. It seemed appropriate to the current silence from above so the challenge for you, dear listener, is to suggest the title of this song.

Hi Keith,

Nicely played, but to be honest I do not have a clue as to its title,
So this has now turned into Name that Tune

Hi Keith. Hope you are wearing your hard hat. Liked you interpretation of Lady Madonna a pleasant listen. The other one I vaguely remember a bit of it but cannot put a title will listen again. Liked the sounds. I have still got man flu. Loosing my voice which may not be a bad thing. John

Thanks for the comments gents. I should perhaps give some clues. Having no recollection of this tune I played it in a way suitable to the title and sentiments of the song. I think that the original is less suitable but I will not argue with John and Paul. I think that it was recorded without John as he was in hospital after a car crash. It was the last "recorded" Beetles track.

Any suggestions?

And the winner is Brian F. Well done Brian. Two (or three) tunes were joined together to make the last track on Abbey Road and Golden Slumbers was one of them.

Hi all,

Well here is an attempt at a Beatles number called, "and I love her"

Not as good as I hope it would be a few miss keys in places and I think
I am letting my desire to play exceed my abilities to play on this one.
