I read through the lead sheet and then ad libbed my way through, with no pre planning except for the drum style and tempo so here it is, warts and all. For good measure I stuck in a tierce-de-picardie ending. The Autumn Leaves https://app.box.com/s/yyxxe8lc94mkwop0hn3z7gmfmcmefr2e

I've Got you Under My Skin

Postby KRUG » 11 Apr 2015 09:45

I think that I should rename this I've got a buzz in my headphones. Most noticeable at the beginning and end when the instrument is not playing (*which I have chopped off) but it must be there throughout even if not very noticeable. Perhaps its a bit of damp!

Some excellent tunes from everybody - enjoyed them all. I always thought that Sinatra did very well with an unremarkable voice but rather like Rod Stewart he knew how to put a song over. Perhaps that is why he got to sing such great songs.

John - I hope to get my new toy this next week but no delivery date as yet. Hope to see you on Monday for an hour or so.

Hi john, I enjoyed Mack The Knife and Keith, you can't go wrong with Cole Porter, a nice listen.
Brian D
Music is always going to be subjective but I think Sinatra had something very special. I believe that he had perfect pitch also the tonal qualities and phrasing were in my opinion superb, he knew when to go loud and when to go soft, someone of this quaility is very rare.

Hallo, it's been a while since I have posted anything due to a recent bout of illness but having listened to your music posts it's spurred me on to do something about my lack of enthusiasm for recording. I have enjoyed your performances folks and until I get the dust blown off my Korg i have dug deep into my performance archives to find this big band version a great number called watch what happens which was also performed by old blue eyes, it is a multi-track performance on the Korg using a mixture of legacy voicing with the factory pa2x dnc voicies.
Enjoy

Just made it back alive from a few days in Yorkshire in a caravan, lovely through the day but bloody freezing through the night
so here`s a very hurried short version of Fly Me to the Moon, with huge warts and all.

Hi Brian,

Like the changes between fast/slow tremolo. And the bit of 'multi-tracking' to give that little bit of counter-melody.

Hi Brian D,

This is a very good 'quality' recording, and I don't just mean because it is a WAV file and not an MP3. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a .wav recording and an .mp3 anyway. No, it is a very clear recording. Is this because you did a direct line recording instead of using a microphone?

I presume this is your EL70? Love the organ 'flute' sound, which I presume is the Yamaha 'Electronic' sound? And like Brian's recording you have switched between fast and slow tremolo, which seems to be a good way to go for a Frank Sinatra song.

You say you have never heard this before. This is exactly the point I was making in my posting in New Challenges: Thoughts, Ideas and Suggestions.

http://tierce-de-picardie.co.uk/viewtop ... 703#p31809

You seem to have found a real gem, with a great melody line and some interesting chords.

Hi Hugh,
I actually recorded into into an mp3 decoder box and transferred it to Cakewalk Music Creator so it was an mp3 to start with but I mistakenly saved it as a WAV file. It would have been much the same had I saved it as an mp3
Previously I posted a bit about the decoder box for you but I think you must have missed it,
I've tracked the post down and pasted it below.
When I use the line out, it is played into a little decoder box which is a great little mp3 converter, I learned of it from "Jacko "
I have just checked it out on e-bay and they have shot up in price. I got mine not too long ago for about £15
They must be getting popular as the cheapest new one I found is over £58. I think I would buy an audio interface at that price but of course
you can play straight into audacity or Cakewalk without the interface.

Hi Brian D,

Yes, I did see your posting about the decoder box. I think what had me confused was that it was a WAV file, and I wasn't sure how you had got that. Anyway, I'm sure that the great quality of your recording was as a result of you using the LINE OUT for your recording. I have bought a ZOOM Q3HD camcorder for the purpose of recording something 'live' for YouTube. Although it has built in microphones, it also has a 'Line In' for recording, and it seemed to me that this would be the way to go for a quality recording. I bought it two years ago, and it's still in it's box! Unfortunately, I have my AR in a conservatory with glass on two sides, a glass roof, stone walls and a stone floor. The acoustics are so bad I cannot listen to the organ through it's speakers and have to wear headphones all the time (I'm sure that my wife, Bronwyn is pleased about that!). Microphones would be a no, no for me.
