This weekends Challenge Elvis Presley

Postby Hugh-AR » 13 Jul 2016 14:31

Brian (007) .. thanks for doing that. This is a really good place for songs as Elvis did so many.

Here's an Elvis number from me. Good Luck Charm. Brian007 .. I've used a guitar again. And I've put in a backing PART with an 'Ooh Ooh' as this is the sort of thing they used to do in those days. Brian D .. unlike your piece, I haven't used the bass pedals in this one but have done a bass 'pattern' for the AutoBassChord to pick up. If I remember rightly (it was a long time ago!), Elvis always had a 'double bass' in his band; whereas Cliff (Richard) always had an electric bass guitar. I built my own amplifiers in those days, and had a bass speaker screwed inside a commode (made of wood, and the diameter was perfect for the speaker). With an amplifier that was the highest of hi-fi, I always used to think that Cliff's recordings (and bass) were so much clearer than Elvis's, which I thought were often a bit 'muddied'.

Good Luck Charm

PS. Haven't listened to the other tracks in this posting yet, so I have something to look forward to!

Whilst on the subject of Good Luck Charm by Elvis Presley, here's a recording of it using Vocal Harmony on a Tyros 4:

Now this one could go into either Elvis or Love, but as it's an Elvis number I'll put it in here. This was recorded by Elvis in 1958. I was 16yr at the time, an impressionable age as far as music was concerned. My Dad was trying to woo me onto the merits of Bing Crosby, and he had several 78rpm records of his songs.

This is an existing STYLE in the AR (Rock & Roll 1), but I have changed the VOICE of the Bass Part so the Boogie Bass is deeper and more dynamic. There is a MAIN A and a MAIN B, and what you hear at the start is MAIN B. The 'hesitant' bit is MAIN A, and I have programmed in the notes for the Bass Part here to reflect what the song is doing.

Hi Hugh,

interesting video about the vocal harmonizer, not to much of a singer myself
but just shows what can be done if you put your mind to it.

The Elvis number you played was good, enjoyed all the instruments you used and all your
hard work was not in vain as it was a good performance

Hi Hugh. Ages since I heard that one. Had my feet tapping. Nearly got up to rock and roll, but playing golf tomorrow didn't want to damage knees or have a heart attack. Enjoyed my listen. John

Hi All,

Heres my new Music Video of "Return to Sender" is a 1962 hit single recorded by American singer Elvis Presley and published by Elvis Presley Music.
The song was written by Winfield Scott and Otis Blackwell. Hope you enjoy it

You are certainly bringing back the memories! You take a lot of time and trouble 'arranging' your pieces, and this always makes them a pleasure to listen to. Hugh
