Hi Hugh,

I did buy one extra sound pack when I owned my Tyros 5 and it was OK it was a Hammond Organ pack, but I found that I never really usde it that much really so for me it was a bit of a waste of money, but it depends on just how bad you believe you need that extra voice and how near it is to the original, I am lucky in that the MODX6 synth I have has a vast array of voices I can fall back on, so I could if I wanted to add extra voices to a tune from that , but horses for courses

Hello Hugh, Not worth the money. There is enough on the kbds without adding tweeked junk. I make my own registrations. The regs bought from here you never know how much they can alter your settings. Split point moved etc. Regards,Den,

Hi Den,

Totally agree with you on the expansion packs , 3rd party registrations to me are much more use , provided you lock all your vital bits like split points etc.

Hi Mike,

There is so much you can do with the voices we already have on our keyboards , like alter the cut off to alter the top end, add reverb, chorus - plus loads more
and we have the ability to layer these voice with other voices to create something totally different, its just a question of getting creative instead of being lazy

Brian,

I agree with you. I did buy a couple of Style disks for my AR80 organ but found they had nothing on them that I couldn't have done myself. Why is it that when we buy an organ or a keyboard we feel the need to buy even more? There is plenty on the instrument we have just bought to play just about anything you may want to play! Maybe we feel that by having more Styles and Voices it will enable us to play better? Take a leaf out of Jon D's book. He has a Registration with some great Voices on it and uses that for just about everything he plays. And another person who does this is DonW. He has 16 Registration Memories in his AR100 organ and has each one set up to a different sound. He then uses several of these when he plays something.
