The Little Grain Of Sand

Postby Hugh-AR » 23 Jun 2018 08:33

When coming to UK from Kenya I travelled on an Italian Cruiseship from Mombasa to Trieste, and on board this ship they had their own resident band (of course they did!). Every night, as their last number, they would play this song. A very catchy little tune, which I learnt to play on the piano as soon as I arrived in the UK. I had no idea what it was called as the band never said! Or if they did, it had an Italian name.

And then one day, years later, I heard that same tune played on Radio 2 .. and it was called The Little Grain Of Sand. So here is my take on it. I have done a very simple 'Intro' and 'Ending'.

Hi all,

Thanks for your comments.

Well, there you go! It was an Italian Song! I have found it on YouTube with Cliff Richard singing it .. in Italian! And this is what the band would have said it was called, "Legata Ad Un Granello Di Sabbia". I'm not surprised that I had no recollection of the name of the song!

This is off Cliff`s 1965 album 'When In Rome'. The story I was telling you about happened in 1960, way before Cliff did it.
