Hi Val,

Just love these 'oldies' played on your organ.

"I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" was the first piece I ever played on a keyboard .. which was called the Hammond Everett Chord Organ. Not mine, it was in a holiday bungalow we stayed in, and I was about 15 years old. Made my holiday! This had piano type keys to the right, and piano accordion buttons to the left. You played the accompaniment using the piano accordion buttons, which had buttons for Major, Minor and 7th. On the one I played it had one pedal (I think the later ones had two). The first time you pressed it it played the 'root' of the chord; and the second time it played the 'fifth'. So with a C chord, C then G (under the C). An F chord, F then C (under the F).

I have found the organ on YouTube .. but the person playing it has completely missed the function of the "bar" running across, below the buttons. In the YouTube clip below he does press it down with his right hand to show us what it does. It makes the chord louder. But the point about this 'bar' is that you played the chord .. and then hit the bar with your wrist, which made it louder and gave 'rhythm' to the piece you were playing. So with 'Blowing Bubbles' it was press the button on the first beat of the bar, hold the button down and hit the bar with your wrist for the other two beats. Oh yes, and press the foot-pedal.

Here is the video of him attempting to play this organ:
