SAILOR

Postby MARGARETD » 25 May 2018 07:08

Hello,
Here is another tune from me.
SAILOR, sung by Petula Clark was a U.K. hit for her in 1961 and very popular here in New Zealand at the time.
I still prefer the German version titled SEEMAN and recorded in 1959 by Lolita.
There is something quite lovely hearing the song sung in the German language.

Hi Margaret Always liked Petula. Liked your version. The sounds used reminded me of waves, very appropriate. A nice relaxing listen. John

Hi there I have played from the age of 13 and all my music is played in a sort of dance tempo style. Have worked in nearly all the North East clubs over the years. That give me a good grounding. Cheers.

Hi Margaret,

I like the way you have arranged this, with just a 'Harp' playing at the beginning, then a 'Blues Harmonica', followed by the 'Celesta', and finally a 'Vibraphone' with 'Strings' in the background. Really lovely!

You mention the German version called SEEMAN by Lolita. I have found this on YouTube. I only knew the Petula Clark one.

Hi Margaret,

I can just remeber this one, Petula Clarke was a good singer back in the day, and sang a lot of stuff composed and written by Tony Hatch

Your version was very good , liked the voices and the way you played it,
