TUNEFUL tipping is now a thing of the past in Dunstable after bosses at the towns household waste site banned the manager from playing a recycled organ.

Gary Edwards rescued the instrument from a rubbish heap at the Tidy Tip in Frenchs Avenue around seven years ago and started teaching himself to play.

Since then, the 45-year-olds music has entertained visitors to the site, with classics from Nat King Cole and Shirley Bassey being his favourites.

But Garys bosses at Viridor, the contract firm that manages the tip on behalf of Central Bedfordshire Council, have now forced him to get rid of the organ, saying workers must remain focused on their duties while at work.
